For the first time in what feels like forever, maybe it's time to start planning that next golf trip.
One of my favourites has to be Quinta Do Lago (South) in Portugal. A favourite amongst the European Tour players. The 6500 metre par 72 course is set amongst pine trees, lakes and overlooks the beautiful Ria Formosa National Park. Although this course can be challenging, it shouldn't deter golfers of all levels and abilities.
I love playing golf in Florida not just because my brother lives there and there's always a bit of healthy rivalry when it comes to golf, but the courses (and the weather) are just something else. In my top 10 is Blue Monster at Trump National Doral Miami. The courses there have been updated over the years to keep them fresh but still have long fairways and undulating greens. The greens in Florida are Bermuda grass, which plays differently to here in the UK, and in the US its more target golf, play for the flag not run up to the flag as in the UK. Blue Monster has its trademark fountain at the 18th and has to be one of the most difficult holes I've ever played, though I did manage an Birdie!
